New Pipeline Performance Evaluator Role

NCCER is introducing a new personnel role for Pipeline programs:
Pipeline Performance Evaluator. 

This new certified role will replace the current function of the Curriculum Performance Evaluator role for pipeline covered tasks. Based on customer feedback, this role will be more specifically focused on pipeline regulations and Operator Qualifications. 

Important Dates and Next Steps

For Current Evaluators

Current Curriculum Performance Evaluators who assess pipeline covered tasks must become certified for the new Pipeline Performance Evaluator role by January 1, 2027 to continue assessing pipeline covered tasks.

• Evaluators who only assess pipeline performances just need the Pipeline Evaluator certification.

• Evaluators who also assess non-Pipeline craft performances must additionally renew their Curriculum Evaluator certification.

For New Evaluators

Beginning August 10, 2026, the Pipeline Performance Evaluator role and its required training program will become available for Program Directors and Managers to assign. New personnel must be assigned this role to evaluate pipeline tasks.

• Effective August 10, Directors and Managers will no longer be able to add Pipeline OQ as a craft under the Curriculum Performance Evaluator role.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Successful completion of the NCCER Pipeline Performance Evaluator Training Program

• 3+ years of relevant field experience
  
• Proof of qualifications for tasks being evaluated 

• Certification is valid for 3 years
• Course cost: $24.00 per person
