Your One-Stop Certification Solution

Certifying your workforce shouldn’t be complicated.

That's why we’ve built a comprehensive crane, rigger and signal person certification program with one goal: make the process simple, efficient and more effective for certification providers, employers and operators.

The NCCER Difference

For 30 years, the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) has helped train, assess and certify craft professionals nationwide.

NCCER's Crane, Rigger and Signal Person Certification program offers:

  • Certifications that meet or exceed OSHA regulations and ASME standards

  • Testing for both knowledge and performance in alignment with industry best practices

  • On-site, on-demand testing using your own equipment

  • A single source of certification for all your crane professionals

  • Unmatched support from NCCER's Workforce Development and Customer Success teams

How It Works

Certification Components

  • NCCER's Crane, Rigger and Signal Person Certifications utilize assessments (written test) and practical examinations (hands-on tasks) to evaluate and verify the knowledge and skills of craft professionals.

  • Professionals who successfully complete both the assessment and practical examination of a specific certification pathway through an approvided provider and have at least 4 years of documented experience are considered NCCER Certified.

Certification Providers

  • To become an approved Crane, Rigger and Signal Person Certification provider, a company must apply for accreditation through NCCER as an Assessment Program, as well as be endorsed to specifically deliver the Crane, Rigger and Signal Person programs. Accredited and endorsed programs can certify their own employees. They may also choose to serve as a certification provider for the public.

  • Organizations who are not yet accredited and endorsed through NCCER are still able to certify their craft professionals through an approved public provider: Crane Certification Providers | Rigger and Signal Person Certification Providers
